JAMES NELSON
MANSON – James Nelson, 71, died on Thursday July 7, 2016, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Manson, followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson.
James Harold Nelson was born on July 20, 1944, in Ft. Dodge, IA, the son of Harold and Lillian (Johnson) Nelson. After he received his education at Manson High School, he helped his father with the family farm until he began his career as a heavy equipment operator. He was employed with Aspholm Construction, and then with Calhoun County, where he worked for 22 years until his retirement. Jim was a Viet Nam veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. On Jan. 18, 1968, he married Peggy Gross at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ft. Dodge.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Peggy; children Kristi Zwiefel of Clarion, IA; Mark Nelson of Carroll, IA; Julie Johnson of Waukee, IA; three grandchildren; sister Anita Aljets of Ft. Dodge, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Elaine Poundstone and Linda Duncan.
