MARCELLA (STANEK) WININGER
Marcella (Stanek) Wininger, 88, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, 50501.
She is survived by husband, Ray S. Wininger; children Kittie Webster, Fort Dodge; and Cynthia Coppola, Des Moines; stepchildren Becky Foster, Ames; Diane Hagen, Bondurant; Amy Bell, Des Moines; Juanita Skow, Janice Strachen, and Ronald Silbaugh, Humboldt; Norman Silbaugh, Gillette, Wyoming; brother Gilbert Stanek, Fort Dodge; a nephew and niece; several grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her one son Kip died in a farm accident at age 42.
Born December 22, 1927 on an Elkhorn Township farm owned by her parents Fred and Mabelle (Faiferlick) Stanek, she was reared and lived in the same section until moving into Fort Dodge in January of 1978. Her first education began with eight years in Elkhorn #6 Country School and she graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1945.
For 10 years as a Realtor, Marcella was the only female realtor in Webster County. She started Hawkeye Realty in 1959 and closed the office in 2013.
As a member of First United Methodist Church since youth, Marcella served as President of the Mother’s Club, was a Sunday school teacher, and member of Official Board. She was a charter member of First United Methodist Church Truck Ministry, “Taking it to the People.” Marcella is a life member of Iowa Congress of Parents and Teachers having served as an officer at local, county, district and state levels.
Marcella gave private piano lessons for 10 years. She served two years as president of the Fort Dodge Women’s Club and during her term, the clubhouse was placed on the National Registry of Historical Homes. She is a member of Chapter AT of T.T.T., Chapter JX of P.E.O. and several other local organizations including these groups: Hawkeye Theatre, Blandon Art Gallery, Fort Museum, Fort Dodge High School Alumni Association, Czech-Solvak Society, and Fort Dodge Area Symphony.
At Marcella’s request, her body has been donated to the Department of Anatomy, Mayo Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota; and no memorial service is to be held at this time but Ray is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorials may be left to the First United Methodist; Chapter AT, T.T.T. or Chapter JX, P.E.O.
