DWAYNE ARTHUR “DOC” ROBERTSON
Dwayne Arthur Robertson (Doc) of Fort Dodge, Iowa, age 65 passed to his eternal reward at 7:30 AM on March 29, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines after complications of a massive heart attack.
Doc was president of his high school senior class at Central Webster, Burnside class of ’67. From there Doc went to Iowa State University where he graduated in ’74 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a degree in Veterinary Medicine in the class of ’76 as a veterinarian. He worked as a veterinarian in Orange City, Iowa and later he moved to Stratford, Iowa to begin his own veterinary practice.
Doc left veterinary medicine to help his father with the family farm and later took over when his father retired. Leaving farming to drive a semi truck for New Coop of Roelyn, Iowa for whom he drove for over 20 years.
Doc, was preceded in death by his father LaVern Robertson and mother Doris Robertson and his grandparents HPK and Dora Hansen and Harry and Alice Robertson. He is survived by his brother Dennis R. Robertson of Manchester, Iowa, David A. Robertson of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and Daniel K. Robertson of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Doc was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Burnside, Iowa. He enjoyed almost anything farm related, the visiting with people and sharing their views on life in general. He loved history and was an avid reader.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside, Iowa with Pastor Julian Swanson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 until time of services at the church. Private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines or Iowa City.
