BLAIR DEAN HARBAUGH
LAKE CITY – Blair Dean Harbaugh was born on October 19, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Janis (Ripple) Carlton and Victor Harbaugh. After High School at Kennedy in Cedar Rapids, he served four years in the US Navy traveling around the world, including Spain that he loved. He was also on a ship near India during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. He then managed a Hardees Restaurant in CR for about 10 years. He then joined Laborers’ Union Local 43 for 20 years including being a Labor Foreman for Rinderknecht Construction. He married his wife, Beth on July 25, 2010. After his retirement from construction in 2012, he became a CNA working for the Meth-Wick Community in CR and Shady Oaks in Lake City, Iowa. He was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Blair was a devoted Christian, giver and receiver of Grace; artist, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and was a lifelong fan of the Cardinals, Packers, and the Beatles.
Blair went to many churches in Cedar Rapids, and then moved to Lake City, Iowa where he was a member of Lake City Union Church where his wife serves as Pastor. Blair was also a longtime friend of Bill W. and a benefactor of ChildFund.
Blair died on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 57 years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City followed by a luncheon with burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City. An Open House Gathering and Luncheon in remembrance of Blair will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Squaw Creek Village Community Center at the corner of Hwy 151 and 13 in Marion, Iowa.
Blair is survived by his wife Beth; daughter Jessica; and grandson Jayson of Lake City; father Boyd Carlton of Cedar Rapids; sister Julia (Randy) Coons, brother Bruce (Kelly Fields) Harbaugh of Cedar Rapids; Sister-in-law Ann Brownson of Charleston, IL, Brother-in-law Kirk (Barb) Brownson of Jesup, IA; nieces and nephews Paula (Jayson) Attwood, Crickett (Chris) Liston, Steven Kelly, Jake Harbaugh, Sarah (Richard) Dengler, Josh Harbaugh, Tina Jones, Chad (Teresa) Coons; Step Siblings Matt (Tina) Carlton, Mike Carlton, Kelly Carlton, Kathy (Luke) Durham, Mark (Jennifer) Carlton; Stepdaughters Natalie (Jacob) Feuerbach, Amanda (Brian) Busch, Adriane (Chad) Carlson, Sarah (TJ) Brown; fourteen step grandchildren; and Aunt Joyce and Uncle Eugene Harbaugh.
Blair was preceded in death by his mother Janis Carlton, his birth father Victor Harbaugh, and his son Braxton Victor Harbaugh.
