RICHARD BLOCK
ROCKWELL CITY – Richard Block, 78, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockwell City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.
Richard J. Block was born on November 19, 1934 at Rockwell City, Iowa to Maurice “Mose” Block and Katharine Hutchinson Block. On June 16, 1957 he married Janet Leith at Ware, Iowa.
He was a member of the Lake City Union Church, Farm Bureau, Twin Lakes Golf Club, Lake City Country Club, Lake City Booster Club, and the Top Rail Saddle Club in Lake City.
Rich is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jan of Rockwell City, three children, Barb (Curt) Dettmann of Rockwell City, Bob (Sara) Block of Lake City and Jean (Ed) Boll of Sanborn, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brother, John (Marty) Block, sisters-in-law, Carole Block and Beverly Hopkins, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill.
