Grace Lutheran annual church rummage/bake sale is May 3 and 4

Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. Ninth St., is holding its annual rummage/bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4. All proceeds go to the companion congregation in Matembwe, Tanzania, to educate high school students. There will be lots of miscellaneous and household items and outdoor items. The sale will take place both in the lower level of the church and the garage. In the Fireside Room on the main level, sloppy joes and pie by the slice will be served both days. There will be a silent auction for gift baskets. An elevator is available.

St. Michael’s Spirit Run/Walk registration is due May 10

WHITTEMORE — St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore will be hosting its fifth Annual Spirit 5K Run/Walk on Saturday. Registration begins at 8 a.m. outside the Parish Center with the event starting at 9 a.m. This event is open to people of all ages. Currently sponsorships from a variety of businesses in Algona, West Bend, and Whittemore have shown their support for this event. Sponsorship levels are for $250, $150, $100, $50 and below. Truck will be at Grace Lutheran for LWR quilts and kits April 27

Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. Ninth St., will be the Lutheran World Relief drop off point this year for quilts and all assembled kits. The truck will be at the church from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 27 Area churches should bring LWR items to be shipped boxed, marked, weighed and ready to go. Iowa Central Community College is providing the truck and driver, and will deliver the items to LWR in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Spring Rally is April 27

The Fort Dodge Zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League will hold its Spring Rally at 9:30 a.m. April 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 400 S. 13th St. Registration and brunch will begin at 8:15 a.m. The featured speaker will be Wanda Pritzel, from Lutheran Family Service, sharing her trip to the Home for the Elderly in Jacmel, Haiti. The in-gathering will be new colored underwear for men and women. LWML is the official auxiliary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Churches in the Fort Dodge zone. CDA to meet Thursday; reservations are due Tuesday

Christ Lutheran to hold potato bake buffet on Palm Sunday

Christ Lutheran Church, 2220 10th Ave. N., will host its annual Palm Sunday potato bake buffet from 4 to 6:30 p..m. on April 14. The potato buffet will include your choice of toppings, dessert, and a drink. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 yrs and younger. Tickets are available at the door.
