By The Grace of God Church to celebrate 10th anniversary Sept. 29

BARNUM — By The Grace of God Church, Barnum, will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sept. 29. There will be a special service at 9:30 a.m. with guest speaker Adelia Griffel, age 97. There will be an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. with refreshments served and music by local artist Clint Riedel, of Barnum. The church building was purchased in September of 2009 and the first service was on Nov. 1, 2009.

Immanuel Lutheran Church to hold event about palliative and hospice care

ROCKWELL CITY — Immanuel Lutheran Church 3010 270th Street, Rockwell City, Iowa will hold a workshop that explains the differences between Palliative Care and Hospice Care beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 3. Speakers will be Ann Doolittle and Joyce Bianchi from UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. A question and answer session will follow the presentations. The workshop will also include a video entitled “New Rules For End Of Life Care.” Coffee and rolls or bars will be provided.

Faith UMC turkey dinner Wednesday

HUMBOLDT — Faith United Methodist Church, 107 Fourth St. N., Humboldt, is holding its annual turkey dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Morehouse Hall for dining in and carry out from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be two carry out lines for quicker service. The menu will include turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, gelatin salad, rolls, homemade pie and a drink. Tickets are $10 for everyone 13 years and over, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 years old and children 4 years and under will eat free of charge. Swedish meatball supper on Wednesday

CALLENDER — The Women of the Word at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Callender are hosting their annual Swedish meatball supper from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 18. The menu includes Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, dinner roll, and pie. The price for fifth grade through adults is $10, for kindergarten through fourth grade is $5, preschoolers are free. Carry-outs will be available.

Catholic Daughters of the Americas to meet Thursday

Catholic Daughters of the Americas monthly meeting is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Corpus Christi Center, 405 N.
