St. Mark’s announces Advent season schedule

This Advent season, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1007 First Ave. S., will again observe the time of preparation with the inclusion of special music at each of the four Sundays of Advent leading to Christmas. Each Sunday, the hymns will be sung by one of St. Mark’s cantors with special music offered by several area instrumental musicians. As the church adheres to the mandates of COVID-19, the liturgies will be recorded and available on Facebook.

The 10 a.m. Advent liturgy’s special music offerings via Facebook will be as follows:

First Sunday of Advent, Nov. 29: Denise Naeve, cantor with special music provided by Micah Walsh-Levi, trumpet.

Second Sunday of Advent, Dec. 6: Austin Sorenson, cantor with special music provided by Bill Sergeant, violin, and Micah Walsh-Levi, trumpet.

Third Sunday of Advent, Dec. 13: Denise Naeve, cantor with special music provided by lutenist and guitarist, Stephen Kelleher, and flautist, Ica McMahon.

Fourth Sunday of Advent, Dec. 20: Benjamin Chavers, cantor. Violinist Bill Sergeant and oboist Cari Hepperle will be performing special music during the service.

The Rev. Kris Leaman is the Priest-in-Charge and Kathleen Schreier serves as organist and director of music for St. Mark’s. Each Sunday service will be available on the St. Mark’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. and anytime thereafter for your convenience. Please feel free to join us virtually during this season of preparation knowing that all are welcome at St. Mark’s.
