King Ringers to perform Friday

The King Ringers Handbell Ensemble will present a concert of holiday music at 7 p.m. on Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 N. 21st St.

The program will include Thanksgiving and Christmas selections. “Pat-a-Pan” Processional will open the program with a bell tree and four-in-hand solo and duet, percussion and chimes arranged by Barbara Brocker. It will continue with “Come Ye Thankful, Gather Together” arranged by Sondra Tucker. “Christmas Don’t Be Late” (the Chipmunk Song) will follow as a sing-along.

A flute solo and percussion will be heard with “I Saw Three Ships,” also arranged by Tucker. “Rest Merry, Rejoice” arranged by Barbara Scheffter includes “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen,” “All My Heart This Night Rejoices” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” “Fantasy on Angels We Have Heard on High” arranged by Brian Childers features many stopped sounds and chimes. Jason Krug’s arrangement of “Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow” offers many tempo and mood changes with the use of mallets and various meters plus the addition of percussion instruments. The concert will close with everybody’s favorite Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.” Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert and freewill offerings will be taken.
