Bishop Nickless to visit Fort Dodge Tuesday

Bishop Walker Nickless, the leader of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sioux City, will visit Fort Dodge Tuesday as part of a tour of the diocese in which he will conduct Conversation Sessions about the sexual abuse crisis in the church.

He will be at Corpus Christi Church, 402 N. Eighth St.

The Conversation Session will begin at 6 p.m. with silent prayer in the church. At 6:30 p.m. Nickless will speak, offering an overview of the diocesan protocol for responding to any allegations of misconduct. There will then be an extended opportunity for conversation, comments and questions.

The session is intended to provide an opportunity for people to discuss thoughts, hopes and fears regarding the renewed sexual abuse crisis, according to an announcement from the diocese. All parishioners are welcome.

Amy Bloch, director of Catholic Charities, and the Rev. Brad Pelzel, the diocese’s vicar general, will accompany Nickless.
