Lutheran district convention will be held in Milford

MILFORD — “Bound together in Christ’s love” is the theme for the 40th District convention of Iowa District West of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, to be held June 24-26 at Camp Okoboji in Milford.

A worship service, including a sermon by the Rev. Dr. Herb Mueller Jr., first vice president of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod, will be held at 7 p.m. on June 24 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake.

The Rev. Dr. Timothy Saleska, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will serve as the essayist, focusing on the convention theme, which is based on Col. 3:12-17.

Iowa District West includes the western half of the state and includes nearly 59,000 members in 174 congregations. There are also 40 parochial preschools and eight elementary schools. The Rev. Dr. Steve Turner is the current president of Iowa District West, completing his first three-year term of office.
