Student charged in Humboldt school fire
HUMBOLDT — A student at Humboldt Middle School has been charged with setting a fire in the school.
The fire was discovered at about 8 a.m. April 14 in a bathroom at the school, located at 1400 Wildcat Road, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The building was evacuated and a staff member put out the fire with an extinguisher.
An investigation by school officials, the Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt police and the Humboldt County Attorney’s Office revealed that the fire was intentionally set.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that a student has been charged with arson. That student has been released into the custody of a parent and will be summoned into juvenile court at a later date.
