WC schools go on lockdown during nearby drug raid
WEBSTER CITY — Two Webster City schools put enhanced security measures in place Friday morning while law enforcement officers searched a nearby home as part of a narcotics investigation.
That search was one of several conducted Friday, according to the Webster City Police Department.
One location was close to the Webster City Middle School and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. As a precaution, both schools were placed on what the Police Department described as a “Level 1 lockdown” for about 20 minutes.
The searches began at about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The Webster City Police Department, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, United States Postal Inspection Service, Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, Mid Iowa Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration were involved in the operation.
No other details of the operation were revealed by authorities.
