Man pleads guilty to meth,
gun charges
LAKE CITY — A Lake City man accused of helping to deal about 4 pounds of methamphetamine has pleaded guilty to federal drug and gun charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported.
Clayton Brown, 34, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to federal prosecutors. He awaits sentencing in U.S. District Court.
Prosecutors said Brown admitted to being part of a conspiracy that distributed about 4 pounds of methamphetamine over eight months last year. They said that on two occasions in October 2025, he distributed 80 grams of pure methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.
During a search of Brown’s home, law enforcement officers seized a handgun, methamphetamine, marijuana, and more than $2,000 in cash.
Brown has seven felony convictions which prohibit him from possessing guns.
He remains in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service pending sentencing.
