FD man pleads guilty to meth, cocaine dealing

A Fort Dodge man accused of dealing significant amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court.

Matthew Groat, 41, admitted that between August 2025 and November 2025, he distributed more than 2,200 grams of methamphetamine and at least 10 grams of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported.

The federal prosecutors reported that Groat admitted to dealing about 10 grams of cocaine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.

Prosecutors said he also admitted to distributing 130 grams of pure methamphetamine.

Groat further admitted to getting five to 10 pounds of methamphetamine from a local source and selling it to people around Fort Dodge, the prosecutors reported.

He remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service pending sentencing.
