Women sent to federal prison for meth dealing

A woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for dealing large quantities of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area in 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported.

Starr Ledford, 43, who had addresses in Manson and Atlantic, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.

She had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on July 22, 2025, according to federal prosecutors.

The Attorney’s Office reported that between January and May 2024, Ledford helped to distribute at least three pounds of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area. In April 2024, she sold a total of more than 300 grams of pure methamphetamine to someone cooperating with law enforcement.The following month, law enforcement officers conducted surveillance on Ledford as she traveled to Omaha, Nebraska, where she obtained about a half pound of methamphetamine.

Ledford remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service, awaiting transfer to a federal prison.
