Man gets federal prison time in meth case

A man is heading to federal prison for 15 years for his role in a plot to traffick more than 14 pounds of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

Loren Craig, 52, of Fort Dodge, was sentenced to the prison term last week by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.

He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on July 14, according to federal prosecutors.

The Attorney’s Office reported that from August to September 2023 Craig and others agreed to distribute more than 14 pounds of methamphetamine in the Fort Dodge area. On Sept. 23, 2023, law enforcement officers searched Craig’s home and found methamphetamine, two firearms and drug distribution items.

Craig is being held by the U.S. Marshal’s Service until he can be transported to a federal prison.
