Woman pleads guilty in assault case
A Fort Dodge woman received jail time and a fine after entering a guilty plea in a case in which she was accused of going into an apartment and hitting the woman who lived there, according to court records.
Keila Stabler, 37, was initially charged with first degree burglary for the July 4 incident.
She pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury, court records indicate.
According to the criminal complaint filed against her, Stabler and two men entered an apartment in the 1500 block of Third Avenue North at about 2 a.m. July 4. Officers wrote that the two men held down the woman who lived in the apartment while Stabler struck her with a bat or club.
In pleading guilty, Stabler acknowledged striking the victim.
Webster County District Court Judge Adria Kester sentenced Stabler to one year in the county jail, with all but 30 days suspended. The judge also fined her $430 plus surcharge and sentenced her to one year of probation.
One of the two men involved, David S. Dayton, 39, of Fort Dodge, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail, with all but 30 days suspended. He was also fined $855, but the fine was suspended. He was sentenced to one year of probation.
The other man, John C. Schlack, still faces charges of first degree burglary and violation of parole.
