Man reaches plea deal in invasion of privacy case
A Fort Dodge man accused of hiding in a bathroom to look at women has entered a plea agreement that will put him on probation and the state’s sex offender registry, according to court documents.
Mark M. Martinson, 52, of 320 N. 22nd St., was initially charged with four counts of invasion of privacy.
In criminal complaints filed against him, Webster County sheriff’s deputies wrote that at 7:55 p.m. May 18, Martinson went into a women’s restroom at Marker 126 along U.S. Highway 20 southeast of Fort Dodge and hid in a stall. He then observed the women in the restroom, the deputies wrote.
He was arrested June 18.
Under the terms of the agreement with prosecutors, Martinson will plead guilty to one count of invasion of privacy, according to court documents. The other three counts will be dismissed.
He will receive a two-year prison term which will be suspended, and an $855 fine, which will also be suspended.
He will have to serve two years of probation and register as a sex offender, according to the agreement.
The agreement has been accepted by District Associate Judge Joseph Tofilon, who scheduled a sentencing hearing for Sept. 29.
