Seizure of illegal drugs results in man’s arrest

A Webster County man is accused of having large quantities of multiple types of illegal drugs in his home, according to court records.

Jacob H. Horn, 36, of 23042 Kansas Ave., was arrested Monday by Webster County sheriff’s deputies and charged with:

• Intent to manufacture/deliver controlled substance

• Two counts of manufacture, deliver or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana

• Three counts of failure to affix drug stamp

• Contempt

Criminal complaints indicate that deputies obtained a warrant and on May 12 searched Horn’s home. The complaints state that they found:

• 236 grams of psilocybin mushrooms

• 1,177 grams of marijuana

• 261 electronic vapes containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana

• 165 syringes filled with a substance containing THC

The contempt charge is from a separate incident in which Fort Dodge police allege Horn violated a court order prohibiting him from contacting a woman.

Horn made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday morning. A preliminary hearing on the drug charges was set for Aug. 15. Court action on the contempt charge was postponed for 180 days while the drug-related cases advance.

Bond for Horn was set at $35,000 cash or surety. He posted bond and was released from jail.
