Fort Dodge man arrested on drug, gun charges
A Fort Dodge man has been charged with possessing multiple illegal drugs and a stolen rifle, according to court records.
Kaleb D. Bacon, 20, of 483 N. Second St., was arrested at his home Friday by Fort Dodge police and charged with two counts of intent to manufacture/deliver controlled substance and trafficking in stolen weapons, first offense.
According to criminal complaints filed against Bacon, police on Jan. 13 carried out a search warrant at his home. In a safe, officers found 19 grams of a substance believed to be psilocybin, which is a hallucinogenic and psychedelic compound. In that same safe they also found multiple vape cartridges containing THC, the substance in marijuana that makes people high, plus marijuana, the criminal complaints state They also found a scale.
The weapons charge results from a Dec. 14, 2024, incident in which police say Bacon possessed a stolen Colt Sporter rifle.
Bacon made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Friday morning. Magistrate Stephen Kersten scheduled an Aug. 5 preliminary hearing. He released Bacon to the supervision of the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
