FD woman pleads guilty in confrontation with officers
A woman armed with a knife who sprayed law enforcement officers with wasp spray during an incident in downtown Fort Dodge early this summer has pleaded guilty in an agreement that spares her any additional time in jail.
Morgan A. Flanigan, 38, of 1714 Rathermel Drive, was initially charged with interference with official acts, dangerous weapon; assault on persons in certain occupations and disorderly conduct.
She pleaded guilty to interference with official acts and third degree harassment, according to court records.
The incident occurred at 9:48 p.m. June 9 in the 800 block of First Avenue North. According to court records, Flanigan resisted arrest, brandished a knife and sprayed wasp spray at officers. Some of the spray landed on a Webster County deputy sheriff’s leg.
She was in jail for seven days after her arrest.
Under the plea agreement, District Court Judge Angela L. Doyle sentenced Flanigan to 30 days in jail for the interference with official acts charge, with all but seven days suspended. Flanigan was given credit for the seven days she already served. She was also ordered to pay a $250 fine plus surcharge.
For the third degree harassment charge, Doyle again sentenced her to 30 days in jail with all but seven days suspended and credit given for the time served. She was ordered to pay a $105 fine plus surcharge.
