Woman charged with hitting someone with van
A woman who Fort Dodge police say intentionally hit another woman with her van faces multiple criminal charges.
Stephanie I. Koziol, 40, of 217 S. 16th St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with these offenses:
• Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon
• Leave the scene of an accident, injury
• Reckless driving
• Operating a non-registered vehicle
The incident happened at 9:30 a.m. July 27 in the 900 block of 14th Street Southwest.
According to criminal complaints filed against her, Koziol was heading south in a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van when she spotted another woman, who was walking along that street. She got into an argument with that woman and told her she would hit her with the van, officers wrote in the complaints. She then struck the victim with the van.
The impact threw the victim about 10 feet, according to the criminal complaints. She suffered hip and leg injuries.
Koziol made her initial appearance in Magistrate Court Thursday.
A preliminary hearing on the assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and leave the scene of an accident, injury charges was scheduled for Sept. 9.
Court action on the less serious charges of reckless driving and operating a non-registered vehicle were postponed for 180 days.
Magistrate Sarah J. Livingston issued a no contact order directing Koziol to stay away from the victim or risk arrest.
Livingston also set Koziol’s bond at $6,000 cash only.
