Eagle Grove man sentenced to 5 years

SIOUX CITY — An Eagle Grove man will spend the next half-decade in federal prison after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Donovan Lalor, 50, of Eagle Grove, was convicted of one count of conspiracy and of possession with intent to distribute meth in U.S. Federal Court. He was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Tuesday.

At a plea hearing, Lalor admitted to conspiring to distribute more than 5 pounds of meth in Webster and Wright counties between January 2019 and March 22, 2021. He admitted to having up to half-pound quantities of meth to sell with other co-conspirators.

Lalor and his co-conspirators used a residence located within 1,000 feet of Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove, a protected location.

Lalor will remain in custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison. He will have to serve a term of eight years of supervised release after his prison sentence.
