Boone sheriff searches for hit and run vehicle

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a vehicle involved in multiple hit and runs on U.S. Highway 30 and U.S. Highway 169.

The Sheriff’s Office says a green late 1990s Jeep Cherokee hit two vehicles from behind on westbound Highway 30 near Ogden and on northbound Highway 169. They said the vehicle in question will have extensive damage to the front end.

The two accidents occurred on Saturday evening, according to one Fort Dodge driver, Daniel Myers, who claimed to be hit by the vehicle near Ogden, where Highway 30 goes from four lanes to two.

Myers said the vehicle passed him on the shoulder at a high rate of speed without lights on in the dark before turning around and heading back toward him.

“I swerved when he got close, then I saw him turn around again behind me,” Myers said.

He was rear-ended right before he turned onto Highway 169.
