Three sentenced for gun, meth convictions

SIOUX CITY — Three Fort Dodge men have received prison sentences in federal court between eight and nearly 13 years for a meth distribution conspiracy and illegal possession of stolen firearms.

Marcus Swan, 29; Lucas Osborne, 30; and Kenneth Petersen, 41, all pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute meth and one count of possession of a stolen firearm between August and December 2019 in the Northern District of Iowa, a press release said.

Evidence showed that they possessed five guns altogether that were stolen during a burglary in Kossuth County. They distributed over 16 pounds of meth in the Fort Dodge area from October 2018 to February 2019.

Swan and Petersen were prohibited from possessing firearms based on prior felony convictions. Osborne was prohibited from doing so as a meth user, the statement said.

Osborne and Petersen were sentenced to 153 months (12 years, nine months) and 98 months (eight years, two months), respectively, on Jan. 28. Swan was sentenced to 8.5 years Thursday. All must serve several years of supervised release following their prison terms.
