Pop machine stolen, damaged in Palo Alto County

GRAETTINGER — Three people have been charged after a pop machine was allegedly stolen from a car wash in Graettinger and later dumped in Emmetsburg, according to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen pop machine from the G-Town Car Wash, 210 E. Robins St. at 1:22 p.m. on Saturday.

The pop machine was stolen sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday and 1 a.m. on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Before the pop machine was reported stolen, officers with the Emmetsburg Police Department and Palo Alto County sheriff’s deputies recovered a pop machine that had apparently been dumped in the 4400 block of Burns Road in Emmetsburg.

Following its investigation, Dawson Allen Moen, 20, of Emmetsburg, and Cody James Wilke, 19, of Emmetsburg, were charged with third-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief. Both charges are aggravated misdemeanors.

Moen and Wilke were booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await their initial appearance before a magistrate.

A 15-year-old male was cited and released to the custody of his parents on charges of third-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief.

The pop machine was valued at $950. The damages to the machine are estimated at $600, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
