Fort Dodge firefighters work at the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Avenue O Thursday night. One person, a passenger in the Pontiac SUV on the left, was injured and taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. Fort Dodge police Lt. Dennis Mernka said the Ford sedan on the right was eastbound on Avenue O and was turning north onto U.S. Highway 169 when it collided with the Pontiac SUV, which was westbound on Avenue O. The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. U.S. Highway 169 between Kenyon Road and Triton Circle was closed to all traffic while emergency personnel worked at the scene. Just as this accident scene was cleared up, another two-vehicle crash was reported on Quail Avenue south of Fort Dodge. Some of the same police officers and firefighters reponded to that second crash, and were there late Thursday night.
