A man has been charged with breaking another man's leg with a golf club, according to court records.

Christopher O. Schulte, 42, of Fort Dodge, was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with willful injury causing serious injury and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

Later, he was charged with introducing intoxicants or drugs into an institution after a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found on him while he was being booked into the Webster County Jail.

In criminal complaints filed against him, police reported that Schulte attacked another man with a golf club at about 10:05 a.m. July 15 in the 500 block of South 16th Street. The attack caused a serious fracture of the victim's left femur that required surgery to repair, according to police.

Magistrate William H. Habhab scheduled an Aug. 10 preliminary hearing and set bond at $12,000 cash only. He also issued an order prohibiting Schulte from having any contact with the man he is accused of attacking.
