Otho to receive USDA funds for water work
OTHO — The City of Otho is one of seven Iowa communities that will receive funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Earlier this week, the USDA announced that Iowa will receive $31.2 million in rural development funding.
The City of Otho will receive $33,000 to help with technical assistance to plan water system improvements, including the evaluation of water infrastructure, source alternatives, emergency connections and water meters. The project will also deliver a report including recommendations, alternatives and costs for improvements.
For Wright and Hancock counties, Corn Belt Power Cooperative will receive $1 million and Prairie Energy Group will receive $300,000 to help finance the Belmond Community Hospital’s expansion in Garner.
Other Iowa counties receiving funds are Floyd, Butler, Bremer, Linn, Story and Montgomery.
