Payment for marsh project approved

The Webster County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a change order for $20,188.25 to Empire Excavation, of Arthur, for the Meier Marsh Wetland & Oxbow Restoration project.

“This is a continuation of the water quality project that we’re working on with IDALS,” said Webster County Conservation Director Matt Cosgrove. “This was scheduled to be concluded last October, but obviously with the wet conditions the project continues on. That’s the main reason for this change order is the additional rock and geo-grid for the wet conditions.”

Meier Marsh is located near the border of Webster and Calhoun counties.

The restoration project is fully funded through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.

A third consideration was also approved for an amendment to Webster County’s ordinance for construction and installation standards of private sewage disposal systems for contractors and installers.

Starting at $4.94/week.
