FD man accused of torching own house

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested and charged with setting a fire in his own home in February.

Josh D. Wilson, 50, of 221 S. Fourth St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police on Tuesday and charged with second-degree arson, according to court records.

In the criminal complaint filed against him, police wrote that sometime between 3 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Feb. 10, Wilson deliberately started a fire in the house.

The fire was reported when smoke was spotted coming from the house. Immediately after the incident, Fire Chief Matt Price said the fire was in a living room on the second floor of the two-story house. To put it out, firefighters took a hoseline up an exterior staircase and entered the house via a deck attached to the second floor. No one was injured.

Wilson made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday. Magistrate Sarah J. Livingston scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 17. She ordered that Wilson be held in jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Starting at $4.94/week.
