FD man charged with starving puppy
A Fort Dodge man has been arrested and charged with starving a puppy to death, according to court records.
Larry Leroy Roberts Cook, 25, 510 S. 20th St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with animal neglect with serious injury or death, court records indicate.
In the criminal complaint filed against Cook, police wrote that between Sept. 17, 2025, and Nov. 9, 2025, he starved a German shepherd puppy to death. The dog was found dead in the alley behind his house on Nov. 9, 2025. A veterinarian ruled that the puppy died of starvation, according to the criminal complaint.
Cook was arrested Sunday and made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday.
Magistrate William H. Habhab scheduled a preliminary hearing for April 17. He also issued an order prohibiting Cook from having any animals.
