Fire damages outside wall of house
A fire scorched an exterior wall of a Fort Dodge home Thursday afternoon.
The fire at 1122 S. 23rd St. was reported at about 2:10 p.m.
Fire Department Lt. Jon Schreck said the fire started in a trash can and spread up the south wall of the house. The residents were able to put out much of the fire before firefighters arrived.
Schreck said the damage was confined to the exterior of the house. Firefighters tore down melted siding to make sure nothing was smoldering beneath it.
