National Kids to Parks Day is Saturday

National Kids to Parks Day is an annual celebration to encourage play that connects kids and families with parks. The hope is to introduce the public to the park inventories of Webster County Conservation and Fort Dodge Parks, Recreation, Forestry Department.

National Kids to Parks Day is an opportunity to cultivate future generations of outdoor enthusiast and conservationists. We hope by bringing families and kids of all ages outdoors to their local city and county parks — they can unplug from life’s daily grind and reconnect with each other, enjoy the outdoors, exercise, relax, and play.

National Kids to Parks Day is promoted by the National Park Trust (www.parktrust.org), National Recreation and Park Association (www.nrpa.org), and countless others. There is no pre-registration, exact timeframe, or stringent rules. The scavenger hunt to help facilitate your family to our local parks and be doing so, you could win a prize.

Visit www.fortdodgeiowa.org for the park and play scavenger hunt scorecard. Locate the “scavenger word” at each park location. The parks are Holiday Creek; Henderson Landing, 24110 Nelson Ave.; Gypsum City OHV Park, 2390 Mill Road; Hawley Lions Park, Second Street and Eighth Avenue North; Oleson Park, 12th Avenue South and 17th Street; and Loomis Park Trail, Seventh Street and Loomis Park Drive. All park details are available on the scorecard.

Scorecards must be received by email to earndt@fortdodgeiowa.org before 11 a.m. Monday to be eligible for prizes. Three prizes will be awarded.
