Threat at FDMS investigated

A bomb threat directed at the Fort Dodge Middle School Wednesday afternoon remains under investigation.

No bombs were found during a methodical search of the building by about 25 law enforcement officers.

“At this time there is no reason to believe that the physical safety of any student or staff was ever in danger,” Police Chief Dennis Quinn said in a written statement.

At 2:54 p.m. the Police Department’s school resource officer was notified of the threat to the school at 800 N. 32nd St.

The threat was received very near the end of the school day, and the building was quickly emptied. The search was then conducted by Fort Dodge police, Webster County sheriff’s deputies, the Iowa State Patrol and Webster County Emergency Management.
