Local men place in State Fair horsehoe tourney
Five area men had strong finishes in the horseshoe throwing competitions held during the recently completed Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.
Marvin Dirks, of Fonda, placed first in Class A of the Iowa State Elders Championship.
Tom Tabat, of Fort Dodge, placed third in the championship round of the Iowa State Mens Championship.
Kenny Wiese, of Jewell, placed 11th in that championship.
Ricky Ellisworth, of Fort Dodge, placed sixth in Class B of the men’s championship.
Cory Graves, of Fort Dodge, won first place in Class C of the men’s championship.
