The Webster County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division will be gaining an updated vehicle soon.

On Tuesday, the Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of a certified used 2021 Cherokee Wagon LTE from Shimkat Motor Co, of Fort Dodge, for the CID. The vehicle has less than 10,000 miles and will replace a 2015 Ford Fusion that was traded in.

The total purchase for the vehicle will be $32,336.

The board also approved the purchase of a 2023 Dodge Durango Pursuit Model from Shimkat Motor Co. for $42,450. According to Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener, this was the fourth and final new vehicle that was budgeted for the department this fiscal year. The department aims to replace four vehicles each year on a rotating basis to try to keep the department’s fleet up to date.
