Council OKs two vehicle purchases
The Fort Dodge Police Department and Water Meter Department will be receiving some new wheels soon.
On Monday, the Fort Dodge City Council approved the purchase of a 2023 Jeep Renegade from Shimkat Motor Company for the FDPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. The purchase will replace an aging, high-mileage vehicle in the department’s fleet.
The $26,905.50 purchase will paid from the department’s capital improvement fund that is funded through the sales of retired patrol vehicles and forfeited vehicles.
The Council also approved the purchase of a 2023 half-ton extended cab pickup for $40,182 from Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota. The pickup will be used to replace a 2007 Ford Ranger, which will be traded in for credit on the new truck.
The city also received a bid of $46,308 from Shimkat Motor Co.
Due to a conflict of interest, City Councilman Cameron Nelson abstained from voting on both vehicle purchases.
