7 on civil service list for Sheriff’s Office

Seven candidates have passed the written and physical exam for the Webster County Civil Service Commission, being eligible for hire as a deputy sheriff. The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the list during its meeting on Tuesday morning.

Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener said the seven passing candidates are now going through interview panels. The WCSO has one opening for a deputy, Fleener said. It is unclear whether the opening is due to the position added after the sheriff’s office contracted to provide patrol services to the city of Dayton or due to the April departure of former Detective Amy Stringer.

There were originally 11 candidates who started the exam process, Fleener said.

Starting at $4.94/week.
