Fort Dodge compost site opens today
The compost site at the Fort Dodge Central Garage, 3001 Eighth Ave. S., will open today, according to the Public Works Department.
The site will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
It will be closed on Wednesdays and holidays.
Access is limited to residents who live in the city and pay for garbage collection by the city. No commercial businesses can use the site.
Pickups and trailers coming to the site with loose material must be covered by a tarp.
Tree branches must be separated from the leaves and grass. The branches cannot be larger than 4 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length.
