Quilt show will be held Oct. 8-9

The Fort Dodge Area Quilters will present A Sea of Quilts at a quilt show at the Webster County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct.9.

Area quilters will be sharing their talents and treasures during this show. Between 300 and 400 quilts are expected to be on display. Lunch will be served by the Fort Dodge Area Quilters Men’s Auxiliary. Lunch consists of soup, sandwich, relish, dessert and a drink.

Scissors, blade and knife sharpening will be available along with vendors who have quilt making supplies and tools for sale. A Treasure Store will be available with handmade items for purchase. There will be a quilt raffle for the Agean Sea Quilt that was constructed by this group. A scrap dive is also being held. Quart and gallon bags can be filled with scraps of fabric. This is a great way to get a quilt started. Used quilt books and magazines will also be available at a very small cost. A mystery quilt pattern was shared with the group and several of the members constructed this quilt. The fabrics that were used by individual creators make each quilt very unique.

The Fort Dodge Area Quilt group meets at the Trinity United Methodist Church on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30. They bring in speakers to share about quilt making techniques, quilt shop owners that share the products that they have available and explore different quilting events that are happening in the area. The group also has a group of people that make, finish and deliver quilts of valor for area veterans. This group also hosts a quilt retreat where the quilters can get together to sew and create away from home. They also have a time to sew at the library. Any questions about the quilt show can be directed to 515-573-2229 or nefgwg@frontiernet.net.
