Audit of Fort Dodge city government released

Cornwell, Frideres, Maher & Associates PLC has released an audit report on the Fort Dodge city government.

According to that report, the city’s revenues totaled $65,682,500 for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2021. That is an 8.5 percent increase from the prior year.

The increase in revenue is due primarily to an increase in grants received, increasing ambulance revenue and an increase in property tax valuations, the auditors reported.

Expenses for the city’s operations for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2021, totaled $63,281,759, an 11.5 percent increase from the prior year.

The increase in expenses is primarily due to increased public safety expenses, community development projects and depreciation expense for the proprietary funds, the auditors reported.

A copy of the audit report is available for review on the Auditor of State’s web site at https://auditor.iowa.gov/audit-reports.
