Fort Dodge man arrested for sex abuse

A Fort Dodge man is facing one count of second-degree sexual abuse after police say he fondled an 11-year-old girl at his home over the weekend.

Hector Perez, 31, was arrested on Tuesday at his home in the 1400 block of Fourth Avenue North.

According to the criminal complaint, on Saturday, Perez placed his hand under the girl’s shirt and bra. He also placed his hand on her genital area, “touching skin to skin,” according to the complaint.

The Messenger does not identify victims of sexual assault.

Second-degree sexual abuse is a Class B felony and carries a maximum prison term of 25 years, with a mandatory minimum of 17.5 years.

Perez is being held at the Webster County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Aug. 13.
