Sheriff responds to sex offender concerns
Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener acknowledged concern on Wednesday about a local resident who is on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry while being active in his church.
After concerns were raised, Fleener investigated the issue and determined that the individual, Cameron Shane Giovanelli, is not in violation of any Iowa laws by being part of the Harvest Baptist Church congregation and its adult choir, as he is not employed or volunteering at the church.
In a release on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page, Fleener said that Webster County Attorney Darren Driscoll was also consulted and agreed that no Iowa laws have been violated.
