Public safety bond passes in Palo Alto County

EMMETSBURG — A new jail, communication center and sheriff’s office in Palo Alto County will become a reality after a public measure easily passed on Tuesday.

About 88% voted yes on the bond referendum.

The jail will have 18 beds with a mixture of maximum, medium, work release, general population and special status cells.

The county will use tax increment financing to help fund the project.
