Police investigating shots fired Thursday morning

The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating reports of multiple gunshots fired in the 1400 block of Fifth Avenue North Thursday morning.

According to a release from the department, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received the call of shots fired at about 6:25 a.m. It was unknown whether anyone had been struck.

Officers arrived on scene and found evidence that shots had been fired in the area of 1408 Fifth Ave. N., and spoke with several individuals in the area to determine what happened. The officers also found property damage on the residence that was consistent with gunfire.

FDPD is continuing to investigate this incident and encourages anyone who may have heard or seen anything to contact the department at 515-573-2323. Nearby residents with security cameras are encouraged to send any video footage to the department as well.
