Karl King Band cancels winter concerts

The Karl L. King Municipal Band has canceled its concerts scheduled for February, March and April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With the continuing concern over the pandemic and social distancing we are still experiencing, and the recommendations from health officials, we feel it is still best not to have the band members meeting together to perform at this time,” Jerrold Jimmerson, the band’s director, said in a written statement.

“Bringing band members from surrounding communities together in close proximity to each other to rehearse, prepare and perform these concerts is not in the best interests of their health and safety right now,” he added. “It is also better to not have audience members in attendance until such time as we all can gather safely together again.”

Jimmerson said band members hope to resume their performance schedule with the Memorial Day concert.
