DCI: No update on deputy-involved shooting
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation did not release any new information on Thursday about the Tuesday shooting death of a woman in the Coleman District just south of the Fort Dodge city limits.
Webster County sheriff’s deputies and a Fort Dodge police officer responded to a call shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of 20th Avenue South on a report of a suicidal woman armed with two large knives. According to a neighbor who witnessed the incident, the woman ran at the deputy while holding a knife in each hand and the deputy shot her.
The woman was pronounced dead a short while later. The woman’s identity has not yet been released by officials.
The DCI was brought in to take over the investigation as a sheriff’s deputy was involved.
The deputy was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
