Oakland Cemetery Walk has been postponed
The Oakland Cemetery Walk, originally scheduled for June, will be postponed until the fall, Rick Carle, commissioner of the Friends of Oakland Cemetery, announced.
The event, which involves the portrayal of people from Fort Dodge’s past, has been postponed as the threat of COVID-19 still looms.
“We will see in the fall if the walk would be possible to have at Friendship Haven and or at Iowa Central Community College,” Carle said. “It might be that we will only have one performance this year instead of two.”
Carle said the hope is to still have a Friday walk through the cemetery as was done in 2019.
“That went over very well,” Carle said.
The Oakland Cemetery Walk, in its 18th year, has traditionally been an opportunity for anyone to learn about the lives of the founders of Fort Dodge.
